As part of year 5’s topic on Victorians at Killhope children made their own census to aid understanding of the sources. The class looked at the 1851 census of Killhope and summarised what the census told them about Victorian Killhope. The children collated their findings onto a poster. The class proceeded to look at the 1871 census and repeated the 1851 activity. The children began to identify similarities and differences between the two censuses through group discussion. Some children began to compare and hypothesise about the findings, changes and similarities.
