Year 4 participated in a ‘presence workshop’ at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle this week as part of their work on Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’. The comedy written by William Shakespeare portrays the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus to Hippolyta. Other characters include the mechanicals who are controlled by fairies who inhabit a forest in which the play is set. Children began their workshop by warming up their bodies and voices, just like real actors! The class examined the play before practising their lines with voice techniques they learnt. This is part of our preparation for a performance at King James Academy with other local schools.
