Children have the opportunity to listen to adults and each other in the context of games, songs, rhymes and stories, and to develop their understanding of what they hear, by sharing games with others and answering questions about stories. The children are encouraged to talk about activities as they are carrying them out explaining what has happened and predicting what might happen next.
Adults use and model positive language throughout the setting, which children then use in their own play building up their vocabulary.
