Children in year 3 have been learning about the mummification process used in Ancient Egypt. Previously the class wrote instructions for mummification in the way the Ancient Egyptians would have completed the process. Then they got to do the exciting part – having a go at mummifying but with an orange!
First they chopped the top off the orange. Then scooped out the insides making sure it was completely dry. Then a mixture of salt, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon and cloves were added to the orange before it was wrapped in bandages and pinned.
The class will check the oranges each day and record how they have changed.
