The percentage of our reception pupils achieving GLD ( A good level of development) rose from 53% in 2015 to 60% in 2016, again continuing our upward trend. The national figure last year was 66% but this year’s figure is not yet available. We will generally fall below national expectations due to the high levels of deprivation in our catchment. On entry to reception 80% of the cohort were below the expected entry level in reading, 73% below in writing and 43% below in listening and attention. The success of our EYFS provision in closing these gaps is evident in the upward trend from 2014 shown above. In fact 72% of our reception pupils reached expected standard in reading, 60% in writing and 72% in listening and attention.
